Dr. Hill graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 with Distinction in Outpatient Care and Surgery. He worked in Companion Animal private practice in the central Ohio area for a few years after graduation, and then became an Assistant Professor - Clinical at OSU in 1996, attaining promotion to Full Professor - Clinical in 2015. During his years at Ohio State, he instructed veterinary students in Surgery, Outpatient Medicine, Dentistry, and Shelter Medicine. 

His life-long passion for teaching has been recognized over the arc of his clinical academic career, receiving numerous teaching awards, including the Carl Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teaching Award, the Excellence in Teaching Award (2-time recipient), the John Lyman, Jr. Award for Clinical Teaching Excellence (2-time recipient), the Dean’s Award for Creativity in Teaching, multiple “Best Rotation” Awards, and is an Inaugural Member of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine Professional Program Teaching Honor Roll.

After a decade in the industry, Dr. Hill decided to pursue additional post-graduate education and in October 2008, became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Specialty Practice. ABVP is an AVMA recognized veterinary specialty organization for certification of its 11 Recognized Veterinary Specialties.  He is one of only 1,000 veterinarians world-wide to hold this title.
